Created by artists Chahine Fellahi and Annis Joslin, Portals is an immersive video installation exploring the relationship between cinematic time, memory, and perception. Composed of looping images, flickering celluloid textures, and layered soundscapes of projectors, trains, and radio signals, the work creates a meditative, dreamlike environment where fragments of moving image drift between past and present.
Originally presented as a three-channel video installation, Portals was part of Play Back Forward, an exhibition held at Hove Museum from October 2025 to April 2026. The work reflects on the material traces of cinema: light, movement, sound, and transmission, and the ways these elements continue to shape our experience of moving images across time.
