
Paid job opportunity: Event Stewards & Exhibition Assistants – deadline to apply 25 Sept
Dreamy Place is looking for friendly and reliable Event Stewards and Exhibition Assistants to support our 2026 festival in Brighton between 22 and 25 October 2026.
You will help with front-of-house activities at events, exhibitions and installations, providing visitors with information and contributing to a safe, welcoming and enjoyable audience experience. You will be fully briefed on the artworks, audience management and on-site safety, enabling you to speak enthusiastically about the programme and help visitors get more from their experience.
About the programme
Dreamy Place 2026 includes:
- Two outdoor installations in public squares, including a light and sound installation and an immersive sound installation
- A night-time outdoor film trail, with films projected onto buildings
- An ecological exhibition in a gallery space
- A range of other events and activities

Roles and responsibilities
- Welcome visitors and provide information about the artworks, exhibitions and Dreamy Place
- Support front-of-house activities and the smooth running of events
- Help create a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment
- Support the production team with the safe delivery and coordination of activities
- Assist with gathering audience monitoring information for evaluation
Who we’re looking for
You should be:
- Friendly, approachable and comfortable engaging with members of the public
- Enthusiastic about sharing information about artistic work
- Reliable and punctual
- Able to attend all the shifts you agree to undertake
Applicants need to be 18 or over.
Dates and hours
Freelance work is available flexibly from 22–25 October 2026, at various times between 10am and 10pm.
Pay
£12.71 per hour (Living Wage hourly rate).
This is a freelance position. You will be responsible for submitting an invoice for the hours worked and will not be paid through PAYE.
Full briefings on the artworks, audience management and on-site safety will be provided before each shift.
Person Specification
We are looking for people who are:
- Friendly, approachable and confident engaging with the public
- Interested in arts, culture and events
- Able to communicate information clearly and enthusiastically
- Reliable, punctual and able to attend agreed shifts
- Comfortable working as part of a team and following instructions
- Calm, responsible and attentive to visitor safety
- Committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment
- Willing to assist with practical tasks and audience monitoring
Previous experience of stewarding, customer service, exhibitions or events is helpful but not essential, as briefings will be provided.
