videoclub is celebrating 20 years of existence this year! And what an incredible 20 years it’s been – starting with pop-up screenings in Brighton in 2006 to delivering over 300 projects and screenings in collaboration with UK and international partners by 2026. We’ve worked with over 1,000 artists and reached audiences in the millions through web, broadcast, exhibitions, residencies, workshops, outdoor programmes and screenings. It’s been an extraordinary journey.
Huge thanks go to all the funders, partners and collaborators we’ve worked with and been supported by. Thanks to our original co-founders Ben Rivers and Laura Mousavi-Zadeh for helping establish videoclub with our Director, Jamie Wyld, 20 years ago. And enormous thanks to Moritz Cheung, videoclub’s curator since 2014, for his support in helping videoclub to grow and be more ambitious and for joining this wild ride!
This year we’re celebrating with:
– the 16th Selected programme in collaboration with Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network – showcasing some of the best work by early career moving image artists from the UK.
– the 12th Vital Capacities residency programme, supporting and promoting disabled artists’ practice and creative development.
– the 4th Brighton-based Dreamy Place festival – engaging audiences with moving image, art and technology across Brighton & Hove. Follow Dreamy Place on Instagram for updates soon!
